Crossing Dartmoor North/South and letterboxing

I do not think anyone can give a detailed answer to your request as there are too many variances that can be given even against a limited itinerary as promoted. Questions: Where do you propose to start from Where do you wish to end up at. How long have you to undertake the walk. Just how long do you...

Who would like to see the end of 10 figure map references?

Forgot to mention one very important advantage of GPS - in a way its accuracy means the boxer is less likely to tear apart a large area of the moor for a box (inconsiderately hidden so as to cause a forage) - e.g. in a'' mossy clump'' where there are hundreds! This means being environmental friendly...

Who would like to see the end of 10 figure map references?

Gemma Sorry, but in this thread - not worh 0. p But there have been some very good points put forward, a lot of which I do agree on. I, like so many others, have done the transition from a hand held Silva and clues with e.g. 56.78 and somewhat obscure points of reference (often miles (yes - those we...

The Spring Meet

Well TT

So glad you enjoyed your first Meet, no doubt there will now be many more; and as you meet more fellow boxers at the Meets and again on the Moor so the experience grows. It is totally infectious!
Hope to hear 'Moor' form you.

Symbols in the catalogue

In the front section of the catalogue under Dartmoor Letterboxes is the 'introduction' (?) to the book and it states - '' A + sign indicates altered clue from that in last edition of the catalogue''

For Sale: stamps

Being of a very suspicious nature - i.e. a Yorkshire lad - I would ask myself if anyone selling items that are basically a 'hobby ' for profit - where did that person acquire such articles, are they in fact genuine and at the end of the day do they really have a marketable value. It also makes me th...

Letterboxing by bus

Hi Noddy I cannot for the life of me imagine how I would go about letterboxing using only public transport!. I f that is what you do then you have all my admiration. I can well appreciate the predicament such bus cancellations would mean to you, but even more so to the rural villages and townships. ...

WITC wrote 'its been nearly two years!'
I wonder what response this was to, since the only question I see was from MW to Nik.

Then later Nik responds as 10 years.

Multiple stamps

Hi Nik Read what you said . Letterboxing I regard as a hobby (sorry for the old time name!) and not a competition: to see who has the most stamps, got the most in one day , or in one trip , or who is most 'first time' in the book! Just enjoy the great outdoors - while you can! What you do not get is...

Multiple stamps

Though most stamps in public places are catalogued there are those which are not registered and left as part of a walk or special occassion (i.e. New Years Day, Easter, Christmas etc., or sometimes on a personal occassion.) I have placed non registered boxes in such places a number of times over the...
