Just been informed of this by phone from a former letterboxer who now prefers to Geocache. If Geocaching is to be banned from the live firing/training areas, then it seems probable that letterboxing will be banned too. Will this 'ban' then extend to the 'dry' training area around Cramber Tor? The MO...

Hi Tamerton Chocolates. I never had the 'Bus Ticket' stamp made, just the 2 stamps for the Last Bus From Burrator. I have removed the one that was near to the terminus, and the traveller is discontinued. Yes I was around Burrator & Down Tor on 5th May. The Bus service has been re-instated. The Trans...

Fur Tor

Hi Tamerton Chocolates, I thought the Official Fur Tor box was No.19. I think it was deleted for reasons below. Not sure if DNP have replaced / refurbished it yet. 00019 Fur Tor - 585 831. W side in crevice, main outcrop. Official box it was in a sorry state. Although the container was fine, the sta...

Old Boxes

Hi Sly Fox, Personally, I would not re-site the 'original' stamps, but have copies made perhaps with a slight difference. If I recall, the Plymouth Get-together tried to re-establish some of the early boxes and they went missing very quickly. The original stamps would be too great a target for the L...

Unused numbers duplicates

John, The only reasons I can think of as to why Catalogue Numbers were not uses, or numbered twice are: People asked for specific numbers and then failed to use them. Boxes were given numbers and the clue never issued or box never sited Boxes numbered twice in error. Probably just human error. The b...

letterbox numerical list

To answer the question of how I obtained a 'Master List'. A letterboxer was compiling a computerised list of all catalogued letterboxes that had been put on the moor, and matching them with a image of the stamp. The result was to be a database of letterboxes, their clues and an image of the stamp(s)...

List 1 - 100

Hi,
I have a list from No.1 to the latest box. I do have a couple of empty numbers and some numbers that were never used and numbers for boxes that were numbered twice.

These can be obtained from Sylvia Vanwin at the following email address winsylvia@aol.com. Below are examples of her work. She can make 10,000, 20,000 etc letterbox badges in a variet...

GPS 60

Hi, Whilst travelling on a bus out to the moor yesterday, a friend offered me the Garmin GPS 60 he had for sale. I am happy with the one I have. So I said I would advertise it on here for him. He has only used it a couple of times, and basically it is still in the box, virtually brand new. It is not...

IoW letterboxes

I know of only 3 boxes on IoW.
1 put out by Epsom Horrors and 2 by Fartors Bogtrotters.
Unfortunately I don't have the clues, but I have visited the boxes.
I suppose it's all a bit late now.
