Strange person??

#1 Post by Mad moorland muppet » Sat Jun 03, 2006 7:06 pm

Been out today around Feather tor and Barnhill - met a fellow boxer out there who would not take copies of some of the stamps as they were WOM. Would only take 'proper boxes from the catalogue'!!
Strange but true.
Lovely day out there though - got 20 boxes and didn't even get as far as Heckwood or Pew tor.

There's no accounting for taste. I'm always glad to find any!

Up on Yar Tor today very warm. Lots of stones moved about as if there had been boxes behind them but nothing was there. Still found a few. and a yellow stamp pad that someone had dropped.

Well there are all sorts of characters out there - some eccentric some "normal"

I take what I can get - usually I can sort of recognise the WOM boxes so I know what they are - but saying that - I cant recognise all of them

As I have mentioned in a previous post we found a few people at the meet who did not want our stamp if it did not have a number to it.

One interesting question when did boxes start getting numbered?,
what did these people do before they where numbered?

may be the older boxers amongst us could expand

If I find a box I collect the stamp whether or not it's listed officially.

Well when I went to school the number 1 came first... before any other number... unless the government has changed education again and I missed it....

Cranmere Pool is supposed to be the first box - and you would have thought that it would have been first in the catalogue too.
But it seems whoever produced the first catalogue decided something else would be number one
