List of site changes

Something that I do for some other sites is list what's been changed. It's useful to pinpoint any problems and to keep others up to speed.

Simon Avery took control of the site (excluding dns which remains with tomp) Tom can take the domain away at any time. Maybe he'll transfer it eventually, maybe he's just keeping an eye on things to ensure I'm not a blagger. If he does, I can continue under another domain - the data and files are safe, just the address that's out of my control.

index.htm

Removed google ads and references

Removed commented code relating to shop and blog

Removed the (very old) bookmark links and replaced with a single link to the Facebook group.

Removed two tracker scripts

info.htm

Removed google ads and references. (Much as I might want a sexy russian bride, this probably isn't the place)

Removed two tracker scripts

contact.htm

Removed google ads and references.

Removed two tracker scripts

Changed contact email to mine.

links.htm

Removed google ads and refences. (I hadn't realised how invasive these are as I run an adblocker. I turned it off and omg!)

Removed two tracker scripts

map.htm

Removed google ads and refences.

Removed two tracker scripts

The map this refers to was a google map, I assume centered over Princetown. Google no longer support this map style. Is it needed, or is a better option possible?

Forum:

Removed the template header advert

Removed the google tracking in template footer

1st Dec

Removed more adverts in sub-pages

Changed most pages to php and added htaccess redirectors to fix any bookmarks or external links.

Now php, allowed me to add one line to each page to include a common header.htm file, removing a lot of duplication which will make future upkeep easier.

Manually changed the forum template header links.

Added new gallery software and copied across the old photos. Announced on fb and forum.

2nd Dec

Front page; Removed dead link for Meet dates, and buffed up the info a bit.

Fixed two bad links for range firing times from the domain-squatted http://www.dartmoor-ranges.co.uk/ to the official MoD one. (Even if it is ugly, it is accurate) Also added a map of the ranges and some more text to the info page.

7th Dec

Upgraded forum to current version. (Major change, entirely new features. Broke styles and header in process)

Increased private message limit from 30 to 300

8th Dec

Added wordpress test site, waiting for comment from others.

13th Dec

Replaced the functionality on the front page that lists the most recent topics which was broken in the forum upgrade.

I used to get email notifications of new member applications, this guy didn't come up on my emails hence him being missed.

Erm... I have not yet looked at the censored words yet, in the past if you types the "f... word" it would replace it with "there will be bluebirds".

Ok - that helps explain it. I didn't know there was supposed to be email notification. I've added an extension that claims to provide it (this isn't a part of core phpbb functionality as far as I can see).

I've tested with a couple of obvious usernames, did you get notifications on those?

If no - can you check your spam folder too? (I was getting some stuff from the board in there)

I've no idea about what the banned words should be - you'll need to check those, but they should have been migrated okay.

I've also added an automatic spam watch extension that's used on many boards.

To be fair, it's not really been the weather for getting out and about as much as I'd like!

Fair credit to anyone who made it to Fur Tor on NYD, I bet the approaches were sopping.
