Hi
I'm planning on attempting stamp carving soon and just wanted to ask a silly question not even quite sure how to explain what I mean but it's about whether to have a positive or negative image (I think).
What I mean is when you have your design on your material ready to carve do you carve the lines you've drawn (easier right?) or carve out the other bits and leave your lines uncarved (what everyone seems to do and so I assume looks better?)
Does that make any sense?

When you produce the picture words or whatever - the image - that is what you want the stamp to reproduce. To do this the image you created therefore has to 'stand proud' from the rest of the rubber . So you cut away all the rubber waste leaving only your image. It need only be a couple of millimeters deep.

I know what you meant...
I try to cut away as much rubber as I can and leave the lines... trouble is.. I am not very good at it
