If I win the lottery one day - I might go to the US and look for these stamps!

Where did you find them? I am having a nightmare finding any large enough to be of any use. I bought some lino and carved a lino print but it doesn't take ink from the stamp (no good for boxing then as I can't include a roller and ink!) Shame as it came out quite well!
Any pointers greatly appreciated!

Just come back from shopping and we visited the local pound shop and picked a sheet of rubbers up with a wacking great big one at the top. 6"x2"
I am going to have a go a carving Runnage bridge into it.
Any tips? I know the following
Iron the image on from your copy, stick in the frdge to make it harder
Any more chaps
Anyone need any supplies sending/bringing down?

I bought a lino cutter for adding detail lines. It takes a but of practice to get used to ( and you need a working area where the rubber won't move) but you can get some nice clean results.
On a similar note I carved a stamp out of lino (my old dog Lucky) but ink pads don't seem to work. Is there any way to get lino to take ink? I did quite a good job and would hate to have to scrap it.

Use a different ink - a printing ink for lino where you hafta roll it on - but that is messy

That's what I figured :(
Thanks anyway. Looks like I'll have to go with trying it again on a rubber.

If you want the lino to take ink you will have to roughen the face up.
get some very fine emery/sand paper on a flat surface and gently drag the stamp across it making sure to press evenly over the back of the stamp. dont press to hard though, experiment with an off cut first
If you have not got very fine emery/sand paper then take the finest paper you have and sand it with itself until it is smooth
Hope this makes sense

Had an idea... not yet tried out - but buy a packet of BluTac and stick the rubber to that - dont tear off any pieces - just use the whole thing flat.
That should stop your rubber from flying around

Hi all, in order to keep my rubbers or should I now say erasures to stay put, is to use some of the rubbery non slip kitchen roll stuff. Don't know the name but I do know that a lot of DIY, kitchen and cheap shops are selling it here in Torbay.
I always calve my rubbers with a surgical knife with a round blade for digging out large areas and the pointed one for detailed worked and as said cutting away from the lines so the cut is wider at the bottom more than the top. This helps stability and the final stamp will last much longer. And also as said, cut either side of the line, not in the middle of it.
I trace my images onto the rubbers and then *lightly* felt tip the lines in so as not to damage the rubber, 0.3 nip of similar.
I love cutting stamps and have been doing this for about 8 years now since the late Dave 'Hagar' first taught me the method he used, he also introduced me to letterboxing. Miss him. :(

I stumbled across the best eraser stamp I've seen for years at Hartor Brook last week, Miriam Margolyes from the 'personalities series'. Her head was carved on the front with her name expertly cut around two of the edges.

There are loads more of them mate. I love finding them ... even though I struggle to know some celebs. There are some around Pew Tor, Sampford Tor, Barn Hill, Feather Tor, Vixen Tor and Heckwood Tor.
I found the David Jason one years ago, still one of my favourite stamps.
