Whilst out walking this evening, my boyfriend and I stumbled across the remnants of a box on Sharpitor.
I say 'remnants' as the box it was in (a blue California Innovations box) had the lid off and the side was cracked and has bits missing. There was no stamp, but parts of the book were left. Sadly, some person (or people) had burnt the book, and whats left of it had been left in the rain.
The only stamps I could make out were ones from a Bere Scouts, which may have been the second, and a stamp with a Magpie on. The was also an address, but it was from a visitor, I believe.
Judging by the dates, this box has been around for a long while, as the earliest date I could read was 2005, and the stamp was recorded missing in 2006.
The box is located south of the car park (with the water pool), in a cutting on the side of Sharpitor. It is behind some reeds. I did not move it, in case someone knew it was already damaged: what is left of the book is in the container and sealed as best as it could.
It is a terrible shame that there are people out there which would damage a box so mindlessly.
