A 'horseshoe stamp' box has been destroyed by fire on the northern slopes of Chinkwell Tor. The box, book and pen are useless but the stamp somehow survived. I left the remains under the rock but if anyone is going up that way they could take a small book and an empty box and tidy it up.

you should have taken it off the moor - then found out who the owner is and returned it

If you don't know the owner of the box how on earth am I supposed to? I'm not going up for a few weeks so I thought this way was better as the stamp itself is fine and someone could simply replace the box.

I appear to have been told off! I'll take a replacement box up tomorrow.

The Box Doctor eh?

Last year I came across what I can only describe as consolation boxes. I would look for a certain box, but would find another in it's place with the message "This box appears to be lost or stolen, here is a another stamp for you".

I found six that day. The stamps were not great but the idea was nice, in a strange sort of way.
