Winter 2018/19

Is there a list of the charity walks that were available at the autumn meet? I'll be bringing my daughter to the moors for new year and we would enjoy some short and well laid out walks.

Thanks

Re: R.I.P. GODFREY

I never (knowingly) met Godfrey or Anne, but through their books they introduced me to this amazing hobby and gave me a love for Dartmoor. I'm very grateful to them.

I used to get the updates, but I found that I wasn't getting to the moor anyway, and consequently I wasn't having the motivation to keep my records updated.

I suppose I should start again, really.

It's a shame that there are only 4 charity walks. Presumably winter walks are less profitable due to lower sales. Unfortunately the meets are just too far to travel for us, but i did just come on here to look for charity walks to do when I need to come to Devon with work. Are the contact details ava...

Thanks for the reply. It's good to know it is still there - I clearly didn't look well enough, or maybe didn't look in the right place. It's definitely one of the old style clues, which can be infuriating or challenging depending on one's mood at the time. :) I'm going back down to the moor this wee...

Belstone Box

Does anyone know if the old Belstone box (no 28 ) is on site? I was looking for 2 hours last night without any success. Tonight is the last night of our holiday and I might get chance for another look tonight.

Thanks,

It is okay on certain land subject to certain sensible restrictions. http://www.dartmoor.gov.uk/visiting/vi- ... or/camping has some details. There should also be a map available showing the permitted areas.

I hope you enjoy your camping.

It seems the travelling catalogue is currently out of print while old boxes are being removed from it.

Laird of the O'Brook is box 9042. It is listed in the 1995 catalogue. I found it in 1993, I believe.

It's good to see some of the old boxes still on the moor.

Being Curried

It's always good to find a Curried Letterboxer Series (CLS) stamp - they always give me a sense of community with other letterboxers. I know that they have been removed from the catalogue, but does anyone know whether new CLS boxes are still being put out? I recall several years ago that one of the ...

Thanks for the advice everyone.

We've had our traveller made. Now we just need an opportunity to take "The Wandering Starr" wandering on the moor.
