Just a follow-up on my initial post for anyone following this thread in the future. . . Since I was looking for a decent hotel with ammenities, ended up trying the Moorland Links Hotel in Yelverton. Great location and easy to find. Can also walk from the hotel - can't report if any boxes are close a...

Walking Distances

Trying to get my head around distances on the OS map. Just for my reference, what sort of walking distances are we talking about if you go across the middle expanse of Dartmoor. Say from like Burrator Reservoir to Venford Reservoir, or somewhere like. What sort of a walk is that?

Need the creature comforts. Not looking for camping or bunkhouse options. Just a nice place with rooms & food.

I'll dig around some more in the forums but didn't see a lot. . .

Where to stay?

Can someone give some recommendations of places to stay where you can walk directly onto the moors to some good box areas? i.e. no driving involved

:)

Thanks!

I wasn't referring to exchanging walks or clues. I meant stamping into each other logbooks. We call them exchanges in the states.

Okay, so a normal routine would be to get to the meet, get the walks sheet, then do a walk(s), then back to meet for exchanges and whatnot. . .is that correct?

Sorry for so many questions. Just trying to plan my time and what I need to bring.

Thanks!

Do people tend to do any walks on that Sunday? or do you just purchase them and do them another day?

Autumn Meet Schedule?

Hi all - Trying to work out if I can get over for the Autumn Meet and wanted to find out if there is anything going on Saturday - such as charity walks?

Thanks.

New Yahoo Group

I've been digging around off and on for the last year and haven't seen a lot of resources. Best I could find are a few blogs, the Off Dartmoor Catalogue, Urban Letterboxing, and so on. So, since nothing ventured, nothing gained, I've gone ahead and opened up a Yahoo Group for those interested in dis...

Are there any discussion groups/websites dedicated to boxing in the rest of England?

GPS

Thanks Dizzy. Looks like I'm on track with the correct settings. Will just have to wait until I'm within UK so that actual grid numbers come up on it.

Thanks!

Settings

Ahhh. Great. I scanned the old messages, but somehow missed the settings in the post. Thanks. Interesting to set it up from North America. My variance was 007 instead of 004. But it eventually changed after being outside for a few minutes. Since I'm not in UK, the location comes us as: -- ----- BNG ...
