Moor than Meets the Eye

This is very Dartmoor related, and does affect letterboxing indirectly too, via improvements. Somehow I've found myself on the "Community Stakeholder's Board" of the Moor than Meets the Eye project. I wondered if anyone has heard of it, as it seems to be flying under the radar a bit, despi...

Re: ABBREVIATIONS A GUIDE

This info is too good to be buried deep in the forums (although the search brought it up right away!) - so I have created a page linked from Info above and put them there, alone with a few others.

Bad article in the Times.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/09/24/letterbox-orienteers-hunt-for-a-dartmoor-saboteur/ Not only is it very old news, but very unnecessary to point the finger at Geocachers who also suffer significant theft from the moor. Not helpful to either group, who share more in common than they don't - ...

Cloudflare added

I've enabled cloudflare on all my domains this week. Most people will see no difference other than a potential speed-up as it caches pages on a faster link than mine. Bad guys (bots, scripts etc) will be presented with a captcha before reaching the site which is enough to keep much of the automated ...

Re: I tried and Failed.

A charity walk is a nice easy introduction too - clear clues, better than average chance they're still there, usually a themed set of stamps.

https enabled

The site is now accessible via https *as well as* http. This is the more secure method, if that bothers anyone! One key trigger for doing this is that google will soon start de-ranking websites that don't have ssl security. (The s) https://dartmoorletterboxing.org Although the old address will conti...

Re: Can anyone help please?

Hi and welcome to the forum and I'm sorry to hear about the unfortunate circumstances. There's a chance the two you couldn't find have been stolen, but I'm sure somebody will drop by and offer to take another look if they're passing. Sadly I'm on the other side of the moor and not planning to head t...

2016 - Staple Tor

Saw this today, http://shop.imtl.org.uk/index.php?route ... duct_id=55

(Online purchase, doesn't actually say it's for charity - possibly funding the geocaching event)

Cheers.

Obviously still more to do, and we're not wedded to the blueness either. There's a lot of alternatives to choose from!

Upgrade to the Forums

We have an upgraded forum...

Took over five hours to do (thanks to a database corruption), but we got there - and although I still need to tweak a few things, like getting the menu back in here, the hard stuff's done. :)
